5K Martian Race Entry, Date & Race Guide

The 5K Martian Race takes place on Horsell Common in Woking, a historic site known for its connection to H.G. Wells' 'The War of the Worlds'. The course features a flat, mixed terrain that includes shaded woodland, heathland, and grassy meadows, with runners traversing the famous sandpits that inspired the race's theme.

The route is designed to respect the local flora and fauna, ensuring minimal environmental impact during the event. Horsell Common is a privately owned area with public access, and nearly half of it is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The race is organised by volunteers, with proceeds benefiting local charities selected by the Woking Lions. The event promotes sustainability by being litter-free and pledging to eliminate single-use plastics.
