Race overview
The Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon is a unique point-to-point half marathon following the canal towpaths from Wolverhampton into central Birmingham. Often known as the “BBCHM”, the race offers a mostly flat route with a distinctive mix of industrial heritage, waterside scenery, canal bridges, and tunnels, including the well-known Coseley Tunnel section.
Popular with both experienced club runners and first-time half marathon participants, the event is known for its friendly atmosphere, unusual course, and strong local support. A staggered wave start helps keep the route flowing smoothly, while the finish near Brindley Place provides a lively end to the race in the centre of Birmingham.
The Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon has become a well-established fixture in the Midlands running calendar and regularly attracts runners looking for a memorable summer half marathon with a very different feel from a traditional road race.
